still life drawing

by rich
(nb ct usa)

what is a good distance to view objects for a still life project?

answer:

Hi Rich, I'd say a range of 3 to 8 feet. It depends on your eyesight, and how many people will be surrounding the still life. If it's just you, then get as close as you like. Keep in mind that if you need to "measure" using your pencil you will want to be about 4 feet or more away. If you are drawing in small details then closer is better.
